Home Again!
Came back to a little water leak under the kitchen sink. No idea how long it was leaking but now it is all twisted, moldy and nasty down there. Fantastic, something else to do. I decided to take on a project my wife has been after me about as a surprise for her homecoming, the pantry. I have written little about the laundry room and pantry. They were project from before the blog and well they suck. Without the boring details lets just say that when everyone you know is telling you using ¼ mdf instead of sheetrock is a bad idea, even if your poor and it is free, listen. At some point I think I will have to rip it ALL out and do it again. Oh well, it’s a little like catching a venereal disease behind the tilt-a-whirl at the state fair, it always seems like a good idea at the time. The pantry is sided in ½ mdf so that shelving can be attached anyplace. I had to leave access to the wires above and below the power box, which is why you can see strips of wood alongside it. It will have removable access panels, or at least that is the idea. When it came time to tape I apparently came down with a bad case of the retards. It was like I had never seen a trowel before. Hell, just look at the picture, what a mess.

To make it worse my bucket of mud was sort of crispy but I tried to mix it up and use it anyway. All sorts of hard nerdy little things in the mud, leaving streaks all over the place. Add it to work crap and you had one very grumpy and depressed guy who would rather not be doing this right now. Since I had the mud out I also opted to finish the texture inside of the hall closet. My wife worries that guests might decide to climb into the closet and peer up at the ceiling and above the door. These same guests might then be so offended that there was sheetrock without paint or tape that spontaneous ritual suicide would result. Fine, whatever I will tape, texture and paint the damn thing then put up shelving that will block it all anyway. Bah!

As is my way, I tape with really loud music on. By the time the Rock n Roll hall of fame remix of “She shook me All Night Long” was half over I was feeling a little better. Most of the stupid had come out of my hand and the texture was going nicely. It must have been my classics cd because “Enter Sandman” was next and the bass was so high the bucket of taping mud looked like the water glass from Jurassic Park. Hey maybe life doesn’t suck that much. Keeping up with the snappy bass line I textured the hell out of that closet. After I got a big blob of taping mud on the carpet I only textured the heck out of the closet but it’s done and that’s stepping out on a high note right?
