House update!
Uh don’t have one. We are still in a holding pattern for reasons previously explained. In fact I would say we are actually going backwards. My beautiful floors already look like butt after the affections of a furry 4 footed friend. Don’t get me wrong, we knew this would happen with fir floors but still the result is a little disappointing. I located a company that sells a 2 part crystal clear epoxy floor covering rated to stand up to forklift traffic. At $45 a mixed gallon it is not out of the price range I just don’t know if it will handle the flexing of the floor. It might lock the boards in place but they will still expand and contract with the seasons. We had a spat of warm and dry days so we rushed out to get the investment in selling shape. Removed the board fence and vigorously raked the lawn to promote greener growth than the neighbors. I am also putting up sill plate trim around the bottom to hide where the old walls had some splash back damage from before we owned the place and smooth the foundation transition between old and new construction. I used the molding head to carve a decorative edge and then did a cove cut to hog out the middle leaving a trough in the center of the board. Looks like the crown molding you sometimes see in old houses. I was hoping the extra decorative work would help curb side appeal because I know that is where we are lacking. The cove cut was an interesting activity, I had never done it or even seen it done before, just pictures. Works nice and deserves a ‘how to’ with some pictures. I will try to get around to it. What it means is that boards that cost me $4 in the plain 1X6 were worth $18 if you bought them ready made. Ring the whole house for $80 and a set of molding knives. I think they were back-cutting, meaning the knife grind was wrong the back of the knife smacked the wood as it came around in its arc. Changes the shape of the knife as the back is worn away by friction. It was still worth it and I think I can regrind the knives with a Dremel so all might not be lost.

Still no pics of your success, amigo? Since you're doing TWO houses, you should post twice as much, right? Riiiiight. ;) Hey, I understand. But as a fellow house-fixer-upper, I would like to see examples of your handiwork, because someday we're going to have to figure out how to make our crap hole house appealing from the street as well. ^_^ Maybe you can get fun stuff done over spring break...
